UCAT section strategies for 2026

Use this hub to move from broad revision advice to section-specific practice rules. Each guide focuses on a different part of performance: reading speed, reasoning, calculation setup or judgement calibration.

The aim is to make practice more specific, not more crowded. One section, one method and one review loop is usually more useful than trying to fix everything at once.

Verbal Reasoning

Focus on passage evidence, a repeatable reading process and a rule for leaving expensive questions before they consume the section.

Decision Making

Use clear representations, check assumptions carefully and separate logic from personal agreement or familiarity.

Quantitative Reasoning

Turn the question into a short calculation plan before using the calculator and use estimation to catch setup mistakes.

Situational Judgement

Calibrate responses against professionalism, patient safety, honesty and confidentiality rather than memorising isolated answers.
